Like all PAPO figurines, this Surgeonfish is made from non-toxic plastic and is BPA and phthalate-free, making it a safe choice for play even with our younger ones.
DELIGHTFUL 'DORY' FACTS!
• Despite its famed blue body, the Surgeonfish can actually change color at night because of the way light is reflected from the pigments in its skin, making it look more whitish with a shade of violet.
• Dory may be sweet, but real surgeonfishes aren't. These blue tangs have a sharp scalpel-looking spine that can stand erect as a means of self-defense and cut you. Badly. We're just saying, there's a reason they're called 'Surgeonfish'.
• The nightmare doesn't stop there. Surgeonfishes have poisonous flesh. Eating it may cause ciguatera, a foodborne illness passed on by certain reef fish that have toxins in its flesh. If you happened to accidentally ingest one, it probably wouldn’t kill you—but you’d likely come down with a bad case of diarrhea.
