HEADU'S THEORY OF SEVEN INTELLIGENCES
While the Science behind the Theory of Multiple Intelligences is still being widely contested, one cannot deny its significance as a teaching strategy.
Rather than defining 'Intelligence' as a single, general ability (traditionally perceived and tied solely to academic performance), the Theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes the differentiation of human intelligence into specific 'modalities of intelligence', i.e There is more than one way to be Smart.
After all, who hasn't had a student who couldn’t write a coherent paragraph but can solve any kind of puzzle you put in front of them? Or a student who persists in tapping their pencil rhythmically as they study because it helps them think and concentrate better? Or even a student who simply learns better outdoors than indoors?
